UK public holidays pause active studio production and advance delivery milestones by the exact number of operational days closed. Because our core studio hours run Monday to Thursday, any UK bank holiday falling across those four days shifts active production schedules forward accordingly.
Working schedule and holiday closures
Xylora Studios operates Monday to Thursday, 09:00 to 17:00 GMT. We observe all standard UK bank holidays, as well as a scheduled studio closure over the winter holiday period.
Because we do not work Fridays or weekends, a Monday bank holiday leaves three operational studio days in that week. When the studio is closed for an official public holiday:
- Active work on creative and technical pipelines pauses.
- The 24-hour first reply target for client queries begins counting from 09:00 GMT on the next working day.
- The 48-hour assessment window for bespoke quotes following a complete brief pauses until our return.
- Live deployments and code releases are intentionally frozen to prevent unmonitored issues.
How milestones are calculated
When Operations & Client Services builds your initial project schedule, known UK bank holidays are excluded from your allocated working days. If a milestone requires ten working days and spans a bank holiday Monday, the calendar duration automatically extends to cover the closure.
If project scope changes or revisions push production into a period containing an unpredicted holiday or studio closure, milestone dates adjust outward. We do not run weekend shifts or schedule out-of-hours overtime to absorb holiday slippage, as doing so compromises quality assurance across our departments.
Department availability during closures
All three studio departments shut down simultaneously during public holidays:
1. Creative: Design drafting, asset creation, storyboarding, and video rendering stop. Files submitted right before a closure enter the queue for review on the next working morning. 2. Technology: Staging updates, software development, and integrations halt. Code freezes take effect at 17:00 GMT on the final working day before a holiday. No deployments to live environments take place immediately prior to a closure. 3. Operations & Client Services: Account management, milestone planning, and inbound message handling are offline. Support queries logged via the Ask Xylo chat remain queued in order of arrival.
Client review windows and sign-offs
Client review periods operate on working days rather than calendar days. If a milestone delivery arrives on Thursday afternoon before a holiday Monday, your agreed review window does not run down over the long weekend. It resumes at 09:00 GMT on Tuesday.
Conversely, if studio production depends on your sign-off or the handover of content, assets, or credentials, submitting those items on a public holiday will not trigger immediate work. The studio acknowledges receipt and resumes processing when normal working hours recommence.
Failure cases and timeline slippage
Holiday-related timeline slippage usually occurs around missing dependencies. Common scenarios include:
- Late sign-off before a shutdown: If an approval required by Wednesday at 17:00 GMT arrives on Thursday afternoon before a four-day holiday weekend, the next phase cannot be scheduled until our return. This introduces a multi-day calendar delay for a delay of only a few client hours.
- Unresolved staging bugs: If you report a non-critical issue immediately prior to a closure, it is reviewed on the following working day. Pre-launch timelines should never schedule a hard public launch within two working days of a bank holiday.
- Deposits are non-refundable once your production slot is held. Before work begins, sums not yet earned are refunded pro rata; after work begins, completed work and booked time are charged. Defects are fixed free of charge within the acceptance window. The full terms are on the Refund Policy page of the main site. Bank holidays often delay inter-bank transfers, which can halt project restart dates if funds fail to clear before the closure.
Holiday timeline checklist
Use this operational checklist when working near national holiday periods:
- Check the UK bank holiday calendar against your internal launch targets before approving schedule milestones.
- Deliver all requested feedback, copy, and visual assets at least 24 hours prior to a holiday closure.
- Log any outstanding support questions through the Ask Xylo chat on the portal so they enter the queue for our return.
- Avoid scheduling high-traffic marketing campaigns or external product announcements for dates when the studio is closed.
